Understand the credit

Kiro describes a credit as a unit of work in response to a prompt. Simple prompts may use a fraction, while a longer spec task can use several credits. The model page publishes relative multipliers, which makes model choice part of usage planning.

This means two prompts can look identical in the chat history but draw different amounts from the monthly pool.

Watch plan and add-on balances

Kiro's dashboard shows the plan limit, credits used, and credits remaining, with usage updated regularly. Monthly plan credits reset with the billing cycle and do not roll over. Purchased add-on credits follow separate rules and may remain available longer.

Track those balances separately. Otherwise a temporary add-on can make the normal monthly pace look healthier than it is.

Measure credits per completed task

For recurring work, note the starting and ending credit balance and the chosen model. Compare that with whether the task was accepted without a second run. This reveals where a higher multiplier is worth paying.
